Domain parking is the process of reserving a domain name for future use. Domain parking can also be classified as monetized and non-monetized. In the former, advertisements are shown to visitors and the domain is ‘monetized’. In the latter, an “Under Construction” or a “Coming Soon” message may or may not be put up on the domain by the registrar or reseller.
A domain name can be parking before a web site is ready to be launched.
In the ‘domaining industry’ the term ‘domain parking’ is seen as parking a domain name to gain revenue through advertising placed on it by the ‘parking company’ (eg. Sedo, Parked.com or WhyPark.com).
When a ‘domain name’ is parked it is no-longer associated with services such as email’s or websites.
